Summer of Dog is a 2023 American adventure comedy film written by and starring Sir Kaos Barraclough, who collaborated with his brother Nick Barraclough in production, based on the colonization of summer broadcasting when Nick produced Wild Nature in previous 2 years. Its plot centers on an old-growth forest which hides a mystical squeaky ball, but the explorer in search of it works for everything, gets anything, and loses everything without caring at all.[1]
The movie was announced in October 2022 when Kaos conceived a general premise and title for the film. The film premiered worldwide in theaters on August 12, 2023 to a red carpet procession in London gardens. It was since available to stream in the US since September 2023.
The film received critical acclaim for its writing, cinematography and acting. The film was nominated for and won the Academy Award for Best Screenplay 2024. The film was the personal favorite of King Charles III.
Plot[edit]
Kaos is dropped into the dense forest and searches around, but he needs a push in the right direction. He immediately investigates some bushes and clambers up and down the hillside. A squeaking is heard, foreshadowing what he will find. Kaos combs the niles in the field, and then the squeaky ball falls out of the sky! Immediately without thinking, Kaos chews it, and trudges around the swampy deep grass. Suddenly, he stops to eat a vegetarian dinner, and the ball threatens to go away, so he continues to play with it. He runs into a vortex and winds up in a different part of the woods. He is lost, but no worries, Kaos trudges around some bushes and calls for Humphrey Bogart. Kaos is then captured by his leash and tied to a stick, he can't escape until it is snapped and Kaos can escape. But no- he stops and eats some more, leaving the ball to disappear into the ground.
Cast[edit]
- Kaos Barraclough as Explorer, who works for anything, gets everything and loses it all without caring. The explorer is kind of a dunce, he never cares at all and wears a goofy grin on his face, a valuable lifestyle and interesting rise and fall.
Production[edit]
Nick suggested that Kaos make an attempt to dominate summer broadcasting, having already conquered winter-fall-spring and holidays. The notion to do a movie was a year in the making, as Kaos worked on a premise and at the early stages it was only known that there would be a "major untitled feature length movie". In October 2022, a name was announced, aptly titled, Summer of Dog. Over the winter, Kaos' mind was spinning, and Nick pointed out often that "this genius mind is conceiving a summer blockbuster". A blockbuster it was, but by April Kaos had the concept, and in early July, production went to Canada's alpine forests to tape it. Shortly after filming, it began to rain, and it was lucky only editing had to be done. Back in the studio, the film was edited into a massive large file, sent to Sony to begin publicity, and the film premiered.
Reception[edit]
The film had a successful reception, with critics arguing that "the film is a stupid concept, but well-done". King Charles very much enjoyed the film, his personal favorite, and it won an Academy Award for Best Picture in 2024.
Following up on said success, a new movie was developed in 2024; "The Night Ground" to be released Labor Day weekend as a horror movie.
