Sun sorb
A Sun Sorb is an American-produced type of Pool sponge that is used to stop the formation of scum lines and all the while absorbing various body oils, suntan lotions and cosmetics.[1] The Sun Sorb would be able to absorb 40 times its weight in body oils and other various substances.[1][2]
The Sun Sorb can also be tossed within the pool or skimmer and left there to clean the pool.[1] Normally, a Sun Sorb would last an entire summer inside of a pool and/or 3 months within a spa or hot tub if placed in the right conditions.[2]

The Sun Sorb sponge has a diameter of 11.90 x 6.90 x 1.10 Inches (30.226 x 17.526 x 2.794 Centimetres) with its weight being 0.0500 lb (22.67962 g).[3] Its large surface area means that it cannot be clogged within water lines.[1]
Material
A Sun Sorb is made out of a special type of Foam that can simultaneously repel water and absorb it until it has become 40 times its usual weight (which is 2 lb, or 907.1848 g when the usual weight is multiplied by 40 or 22.67962 x 40) it can also absorb body oils and suntan lotions, although the sponge can attract pollen and dirt from the air.[1] The Sun Sorb is typically made out of a patented and non-toxic molecular foam that allows the sponge to be put within open water or within the skimmer.[1][2]
