SuperRare is a digital art online auction platform for non-fungible tokens (NFTs), founded by John Crain and Jonathan Perkins in 2018.[1] Self-described as "the platform where Instagram meets Christie's", SuperRare is a curated, digital art platform and NFT marketplace. A peculiarity of the platform is the possibility of buying and selling unique single-edition artworks only, usually referred to as "1/1s".
Several digital artworks have been sold as NFTs via SuperRare, including artworks from Beeple, Pak, XCOPY and other widely followed digital artists.[2] SuperRare has also hosted various NFT auctions from celebrities and institutions, such as Madonna,[3] Jim Carrey[4], the TIME Magazine[5] and others.
Gallery
On May 19, 2022, SuperRare opened a physical gallery in New York City, displaying artworks from some of their artists on digital screens. The gallery is set to be open until August 28, 2022, featuring a total of five different curations that showcase five different styles of art and artists.[6]
