Superalgos is an open-source project developing a decentralized trading intelligence network powered by free and open-source software and a diverse community of trading enthusiasts. The open-source and free-for-all nature of the project turns the underlying technology and collective trading intelligence into public goods that anyone may access to compete in financial markets.[1]
The project started in the summer of 2017 and launched the Superalgos Platform in November 2021, after three years in open alpha and beta stages.[2]
Technology[edit]
The Superalgos Platform is a cross-platform algorithmic trading software running on users' premises built as a collection of Node.js servers powering the backend and a browser-based Javascript web app running the frontend. The backend's core function is running data mining and trading tasks, while the frontend provides a visual scripting environment to design, test, deploy, and operate automated trading systems.[3]
The software enables trustless operation, meaning that users can trade without counterparty risk, controlling their exchange keys, funds, and personal information.
The client supports peer-to-peer connections, enabling collaboration among groups of users who may exchange information with minimal friction.
Collaborative Trading and Coordination[edit]
Superalgos promotes the formation of trading groups in which individual members complement each other's skills. The premise is that financial markets are so complex that no single individual may master all skills required to become successful at trading.
Trading groups and individual users broadcast trading signals over an open peer-to-peer network while other users may listen to the trading signals and have algorithms execute trades automatically. The open-source infrastructure enables the coordination of large numbers of users who may trade securities following the suggestions of other users.[4]
Business Model[edit]
The project is an open-source collaboration bound by the terms of the Apache License 2.0, with no legal entity claiming intellectual property over the software.
The community incentivizes contributions to the open-source software and the trading intelligence disseminated over the network with a native crypto token representing the value of work delivered to the project and the reputation of contributors. The holders of the native crypto token may participate in the decentralized governance of the project, prove their reputation within the ranks of contributors, and get priority access to trading intelligence.[5]
Both the software and services output by the project are available free of charge.
