Supriya Das[1] is a Classical Musician (Vocal -Hindustani Khayal), Rabindra Sangeet and Nazrul Sangeet artist, performer and a music educator from Bangladesh. She is a scholar at Bengal Parampara Sangeetalay[2], Dhaka. She is the first resident scholar here.
Training & Career[edit]
Supriya Das hails from Sylhet, Bangladesh. She had her BBA and MBA degrees from Shahjalal University of Science & Technology (SUST), Sylhet and a Master degree in Music (MMus) from the University of Development Alternative, Dhaka. She has trained under, late Pandit Ramkanai Das[3] for 15 years. She has further honed her skills under Dr. Ali FM Razwan[4]. From 2014, she is under the tutelage of Gwalior Gharana exponent Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar in Bengal Parampara Sangeetalay.
Supriya has released a musical CD named 'Raage Anuraage Panchakabi'[5] with her three Guru sisters Sharmila Majumder, Priyanka Das Tithi & Barsha Majumder from Laser Vision Bangladesh in 2015. It is a collection of some songs of five versatile legends of Bangla music & literature (Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Atul Prasad Sen, Dwijendra Lal Roy & Rajanikanta Sen) commonly known as Pancha Kabi with blending of corresponding Raaga of those songs.
Her notable appearances were Bengal Classical Music Festival Dhaka[6][7][8], Lakshyapar Classical Music Conference[9], Daily Star’s Celebrating Life Concert[10] in Jahangirnagar University, Shuddha Sangeet Utsab of Chhayanaut,[11]Classical Music Program by Shilpakala Academy Dhaka,[12] Sadarang Classical Music Conference Chittagong[13], Sangeet Utsab of Jagannath University.[14]
She is an A Grade Artiste in Nazrul Sangeet and Special Grade Artiste in Classical Vocal at Bangladesh Betar and enlisted in Bangladesh Television for Classical Music, Rabindra Sangeet & Nazrul Sangeet recitals. She is working as an Assistant tutor[15] in Khayal Department of Bengal Parampara Sangeetalay[15] & Lakshyapar Parampara.[16]She is also working as a Vocal Strength Instructor in Yamaha Music School,[17] Bangladesh.
