Surcam Medical Devices & Development LTD is an Israeli company that manufactures dental implants, abutments, and related prosthetic components. The company was founded in 2002 and is based in Nahariya, Israel.
Field of activity
Surcam develops and manufactures endosseous dental implants with internal-hexagon and conical connections, and produces prosthetic parts such as multi-unit abutments, titanium bases, impression transfers, and analogs. Its products are used in restorative dentistry and implant dentistry.
History
Surcam was established in 2002 in Nahariya, Israel, by Asher Ben Shabbat. In 2024, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared the Surcam Dental Implant System under the 510(k) number K242217.[1]
Products
Surcam develops and manufactures dental implants, prosthetic components, and surgical instruments for use in implant dentistry. Dental implants can replace single or multiple missing teeth. They are placed in the jaw bone to provide fixation for prosthetic restorations such as crowns or bridges, in a manner similar to the natural anchoring of tooth roots.
The company offers several implant types, including internal hex, conical connection, zygomatic, and pterygoid designs, with their use depending on patient anatomy and clinician preference. Prosthetic solutions include straight and angled multi-unit abutments, cemented and screw-retained abutments, customized titanium bases (Ti-bases), and overdenture components.
Surcam also manufactures impression transfers, model analogs, healing abutments, insertion drivers, and torque wrenches. Under its digital dentistry portfolio, the company provides scan bodies and CAD/CAM libraries that integrate with CAD/CAM systems for prosthetic planning and design.
Production of implants and prosthetic components is carried out at the company’s facility in Nahariya, Israel, using CNC machining and ISO 13485 certified processes. Surcam products are distributed internationally and used in clinical workflows ranging from single-tooth replacement to full-arch rehabilitation.
Research
A 2021 study in the Romanian Journal of Stomatology evaluated vertical alveolar resorption after immediate implant placement and included Surcam implants among those examined.[2]
A 2025 in-vitro study in The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry measured the trueness and precision of dental torque wrenches from several manufacturers, including Surcam Dental Pro. The study found that friction-style devices, including those from Surcam, demonstrated better precision than spring-style wrenches.[3]
