Smart SURFace design for efficient ICE protection and control

Surfice, stylized as SURFICE[1] (smart SURFace design for efficient ICE protection and control) is an ongoing project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No. 956703.[2][3] This European training network program studies the design of de-icing surfaces and systems. The proposed outcomes of the initiative will be directly applicable to the field of aeronautics, energy systems and sensor technologies.[4][5]

The project is developed by a consortium that comprises universities, research institutions, enterprises and partner organizations in 8 different European countries (Italy, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Switzerland), creating a novel platform for training 13 Early-Stage Researchers (ESRs) in the fields of physics, materials and surface science and engineering.[6]
