Susie Yi (born 1992) is an American author, cartoonist, and creator of the webcomics Cat & Cat Comics and Peaceful Panels.

Cat and Cat Comics

Yi graduated from Harvard College in 2013 with a B.A. in Molecular and Cellular Biology.[1] While attending Harvard College, she began drawing and animating, doing freelance animation and illustration work for various university-led projects.[2] She started publishing her webcomics online in October 2018 with Cat & Cat Comics.[3][4][5]

In 2020, she published her debut book titled Cat & Cat Comics: The World According to Cats: A Guide to Feline Feelings for publication in February 2021 by Studio Press UK, an imprint of the publishing house Bonnier Group.[6]

Yi then wrote an early reader graphic novel series titled Cat & Cat Adventures for publication in Summer 2021 by HarperCollins Publishing.[7]

Calvin and Hobbes and Garfield were some of the newspaper comic strips that influenced Yi from an early age.[1] Yi cites Heart and Brain, Sarah's Scribbles, 4amShower, and What's Up Beanie as some of the webcomics that continue to inspire her today.[2]

Personal Life

Born and raised in California[1], Yi wanted to be an artist and writer from a young age.[2] Despite this, Yi graduated from Harvard College with a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. After enrolling in and attending Tufts University School of Dental Medicine for around two years, she moved to Chicago, Illinois and earned a master's degree from the University of Chicago in computer science.[2]

While working as a software engineer and in related technology jobs, Yi began publishing her webcomics online.[8][9]

In June 2019, Yi began working as an author and cartoonist full-time.[10]
