Sutliff & Stout, Injury & Accident Law Firm was established in 2008 and specializes in personal injury cases.[1][2][3][4][5] The firm is based in Texas with the headquarters in Houston with additional offices in Austin, Marble Falls, and San Angelo.[6]

Sutliff & Stout No DWI Free Rides Program[edit]

Sutliff & Stout has reimbursed tens of thousands of dollars to individuals with their No DWI Free Rides program.[7][8] The program is offered celebratory During holidays such as Super Bowl Sunday, St. Patrick's Day, Cinco de Mayo, Independence Day, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving Eve and Day, and New Year's Eve and Day.[9] The program will reimburse you up to $30.00 on a one-way trip when using a taxi or a ride-sharing service. Individuals must be over the age of 21, submit a photocopy of a valid driver's license, email address and PayPal account.[10][11]

Locations[edit]

Sutliff & Stout has four offices in Texas with headquarters in Houston.[12] In 2011, the firm opened their second office in Austin with Marble Falls soon after.[13] In 2018, the firm opened their fourth office in their hometown San Angelo.[14]

Scholarships[edit]

Sutliff & Stout offers three annual scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students. The "First Step" to Distraction-Free Driving Scholarship is geared towards high school seniors and undergraduate students to write an essay on the dangers of distracted driving and raising the awareness of good driving habits.[15][16]

The Law School Scholarship Contest is an annual scholarship for law students. In January 2019, the firm announced the Diversity in Law Scholarship Contest to promote diversity in the legal profession.[17][18]

Community Involvement[edit]

Sutliff & Stout has been recognized for its community involvement and no DWI Free Rides program on major holidays to help prevent drinking and driving and provides three scholarships every year to promote safety awareness among young adults.

The Firm sponsors a variety of organizations such as the Make-a-Wish, American Cancer Society, Texas Autism Bike Ride, USA Film Festival and a lot more.

Sutliff & Stout are members of the West Houston Chamber of Commerce, Round Rock Chamber of Commerce, Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce and San Angelo Chamber of Commerce.

Cases[edit]

Negligence Case

Tyler Neves v. Bobby Cox Companies Inc. and Daniel Fierro Jr.

The firm represented Tyler Neves in a negligence case against Bobby Cox Cos., Inc. Mr. Neves was entering his parked vehicle when Mr. Fierro's 18-wheeler struck the back of Mr. Neves' vehicle. Mr. Neves suffered from neck, back and shoulder injuries. Prior to trial, Defendants and their insurance company only offered $10,000 to settle the case. The jury found Mr. Fierro and Bobby Cox Cos., Inc. negligent and awarded Mr. Neves $1,372,530.65.[20]

Wrongful Death Arbitration

Mary Ann Pegoda v. Carl Haude and James Wesley Oxspring

Sutliff & Stout represented the Estate of Adam C. Pegoda and Mary Pegoda in a wrongful death suit against Carl Haude and James Oxspring. Mr. Oxspring was driving his SUV when he attempted to pass an 18-wheeler driven by Mr. Haude. Mr. Oxspring lost control of his vehicle when he struck and killed Mr. Pegoda while checking his mailbox. As a result, the arbitrator found negligence and awarded the plaintiffs $3.3 million in damages.

Fraud and Breach of Contract

James McIngvale aka Mattress Mack vs. Robert Baffert, Kevin McKathan, and JB McKathan

Hank Stout represented James McIngvale in a lawsuit against thoroughbred trainer Bob Baffert and sales agents JB McKathan and Kevin McKathan with receiving secret commissions and kickbacks on various thoroughbred racehorses that Mr. McIngvale purchased at a public auction.

The McKathan Brothers accepted a verbal agreement to represent Mr. McIngvale as his agent and payment structure. After the agreement, the McKathan Brothers recommended Bob Baffert as an advisor and trainer.

Mr. Stout was able to provide documentation that the Defendants received a secret commission and kickbacks on the purchase of a racehorse. In the end, Mr. McIngvale obtained a settlement for an undisclosed amount.[21]

Truck Accident Settlement

Felix Villa vs. Russell Transport, Inc

Sutliff & Stout filed a lawsuit against Russell Transport, Inc. relating to a collision that occurred on July 4, 2012. Mr. Villa had to have back surgery. Russell Transport, Inc. tried to blame Mr. Villa for the collision, but Sutliff & Stout was unable to show that his client was not at fault. As a result, Sutliff & Stout was able to successfully settle the case for $2,300,000.00 in less than nine months.[22]
