Karl Svante Axelsson (born May 15, 1957 in Lysekil, Sweden) is the national coordinator for Fossil-Free Sweden.[1] Previously, he was general secretary of the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation (Naturskyddsföreningen), the largest and oldest environmental society in Sweden, a position he held for 16 years. He is a trained agronomist and environmental economist, but has also studied theology. Axelsson came up with the idea that the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation would sell so-called emission rights.
