Swami Sharad Puri is an Indian Hindu Spiritual Monk, Educationist and Social Worker from Haridwar, Uttarakhand. He belongs to the Dashanami Sampradaya and is associated with Sri Panchayati Mahanirvani Akhada, one of the three major (of seven total) shastradhari akhadas in Hindu tradition.

He is the founder of Matrichhaya Gurukulam, Matrichhaya Gausewa Nyas, Shri Hariharananda Trust,Shivedale school, Haridwar, Uttarakhand.[1] He is founder trustee of Shri Tripura Yoga ashram.[2] He belongs to Advait Vedanta Tradition of India.

Early life[edit]

At age five he met his Guru Swami Santosh Puri Gita Bharti, Ji.[3] He practised meditation and spiritual Sadhana at many places; the most important ones are forests of Girnar, Junagarh, Gujarat at the bank of the river Narmada; Haridwar, the Spiritual Nucleus of India; Gangotri, The Himalayan region at the height of more than 11,000 ft (3,400 m) above sea level.[citation needed]

Sanyas Diksha[edit]

He was initiated in 1975 by Swami Santosh Puri Shri Gita Bharati Ji Mahamandaleshwar of Mahanirvani Akhada.[4]

Education[edit]

He has studied of yoga, Indian philosophy, tantra, and psychology. He studied many scriptures that includes Astavakra Gita, Patanjali Yoga Sutra, Gherand Samhita, Vairagya Sataka, Bhagavad Gita, Panchdasi, Kath Upanishad, Jabal Darshan Upanishad, Atma Puja Upanishad, Prasno Upanishad, and texts of Tantra, Jainism, Buddhism, Sufism, Zen.

He started work with Shri Hariharanand School in 1986, at Kankhal, Haridwar, Uttrakhand. There was a song about Ganga in Movie Amar Kahani Ravidas ki filmed by Swami Sharad Puri ji.[5]

Social work[edit]

Later in the Year 2000, He established Shivedale School, Jagjeet Pur, Haridwar.[6] Sharad Puri ji has opened another branch of Shivedale School in the Aria of BHEL in 2020. Swami Ji also opens Matrichaya Gurukulam where he provides many students free education and accommodation and food. Swami Sharad Puriji established a cowshed to protect the original cow breed especially the Sahiwal breed. Swami has more than 100 cows at his place. He is President of Matrichhaya Gausewa Nyas, Jagjeetpur Hardwar also. Right now Swami Sharad Puri Ji is working with many charitable trusts. Swami Sharad Puri Ji is a trustee of Tripura Yoga Ashram,[7] Veda Nidhi Foundation, Sanatan Dhara Foundation Trust, Sri Hariharanand Charitable trust, and many more. In 2018, he was appointed president of Shri Yantra Mandir, Amarkantak. He became the successor of Brahmalin Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Atal Pithadhishvar Swami Shri Shukhdevanand Ji Maharaj at his Shri Yantra Mandir, Amarkantak Ashram.[8] Swami Sharad Puri ji worked on Biopic movie of Sant Ravidas ji.[9] Time to time many groups from Thailand, Bali, Europe & USA usually visiting Swami Sharad Puri Ji.[10][11] Tourism Minister of Indonesia Mr. Gede Pitana also Visited Swami Sharad Puri ji ashram.[12]

Travel[edit]

In the year 2014, Swami Sharad Puri Ji visited Bangkok the capital of Thailand. He delivered a lecture about peace & Harmony there at Hindu Mandir, Thai Bharat. In 2016 he travelled to Europe, on the invitation of Shri Anantbodh Chaitanya. He was the chief guest of world yoga day in Lithuania. In 2017 he visited Malta and Poland, Latvia, and Estonia. He was the keynote speaker in a program was organised by the Mudra Malta group. Swami Sharad Puri Ji is the chief patron of Anantbodh Yoga in Jonava, Lithuania. In 2015, Swami Sharad Puri Ji received the Shri Madan Mohan Malvia award in Haridwar. Swami Sharad Puri ji visited Lithuanian Sports University in 2018.[13]
