Biography

Swami Tattwamayananda is a senior monk of the Ramakrishna Order and the head of the Vedanta Society of Northern California. Born in India, he received a traditional education in Sanskrit and the Vedas from an early age. He also earned degrees in English literature, European history, psychology, and Western philosophy.

Before moving to the United States in 2012, Swami Tattwamayananda served at various centers of the Ramakrishna Order in India. His roles included editor, publisher, and acharya (teacher). While serving as an acharya at Belur Math, he instructed trainee monks in Sanskrit, Vedantic scriptures, Indian philosophy, and the commentaries of Adi Shankaracharya on foundational Vedanta texts.

Since assuming leadership at the Vedanta Society of Northern California, he has delivered lectures and discourses on subjects such as the Patanjali Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Upanishads—as well as on Buddhism and broader aspects of Indian philosophy.

Swami Tattwamayananda is known for his talks and discourses on Vedanta, Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads and Srimad Bhagavatam, and their practical application in daily life.
