Swamp Wife is an American post-punk band from Seattle, Washington. Formed in 2023, the group has received coverage from The Stranger and KEXP, who praised their emotionally forward songwriting, melodic intensity, and post-punk and shoegaze influences. Swamp Wife has released two EPs on LACE Records and is active in Seattle’s all-ages and DIY venue circuit.
History
Swamp Wife first played together in March 2023.[1] The band released its debut self-titled EP in 2023 on LACE Records. The Stranger profiled them in January 2024, highlighting their rapid rise and “emotionally forthright” sound.[2]
Throughout 2023–2025, Swamp Wife performed at numerous Seattle venues, including The Vera Project, Chop Suey, Cha Cha Lounge, El Corazón, Sunset Tavern, Clock-Out Lounge, Black Lodge, Sonic Boom Records, and Madame Lou’s at The Crocodile.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9]
The band also appeared at the 2024 Capitol Hill Block Party.[10]

The song “The Spit” was selected as a KEXP Song of the Day in November 2023.[11]
Your Love Is All I Know (2025)
The band’s second EP was released in April 2025. The Stranger included it among its spring recommended local releases,[12] and KEXP praised it as “a stellar set of moody, melodic shoegaze.”[13]
Musical style
Swamp Wife’s music blends post-punk, alternative rock, and shoegaze. Reviews from KEXP and The Stranger note the group’s angular guitar work, rhythmic intensity, and emotionally direct vocals.[14][15]
Performances and projects
The band is active in Seattle’s DIY network, including venues such as Black Lodge, Clock-Out Lounge, Sonic Boom Records, and Sunset Tavern. In April 2025, Swamp Wife held an in-store EP release show at Sonic Boom Records.[16]
In September 2025, the band presented Your Love Is All I Know: A Swamp Wife Art Show, a mixed-media exhibition featuring oil painting and VHS-based visual work.[17]
Music videos
Swamp Wife has released several self-produced music videos, including “Culture Crust,” “Cadmium Red Light,” and “Low Tide.”
The video for “Culture Crust” credits outdoor artworks created by the artist rbr.[18]
The band released a music video for “Cadmium Red Light” in 2025.[19]
