A Gun That Shoots Knives
A Gun That Shoots Knives is an independent music band which composes, performs, and records pop music. It is based in Seattle.
The band was formed in 2004, conducting avant-garde music and costume performances.[1] A reviewer for the Seattle Weekly described the performance as them dressed in clothing which required bravery to wear, and then playing jokey music which confuses the audience.[2] An interviewer for The Stranger reported that by 2008, the band had done 4 concert tours and that their costume collection for performance included 12 wigs, eight jumpsuits, 5 fake moustaches, multiple animal suits, 6 luchador masks, lycra clothing, 12 suits, a Jet pack, and gender transgressive thigh-high boots.[3]
In 2024 the band rejoined briefly to play at Blue Moon Tavern in the context of that venue's 90th anniversary.[4] The band had played there in 2005-6.[4]
The music of A Gun That Shoots Knives has been described as unorthodox, amusing, synthpop oddities.[5] A local music magazine in Bellingham, Washington, noted that the band had members from this town and said that their music was some of the best to ever come from there.[6]
