In the year 2020, Rai produced, and directed a documentary feature film called A Pandemic: Away from the Motherland, featuring the lives of immigrant doctors from the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.[16] This film featured USA's first COVID double lung transplant surgeon and four other immigrant doctors.[17][18] The film was released on Apple TV and other OTT platforms and was also in the race for the 93rd Academy Awards.[19]

Rai set up a diversity streaming channel Diverse Cinema.[1] In March 2021, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan showed his support of the film production company following a meeting with Rai.[20][21] The films being streamed as of 2022 are cross-culture stories.[6]
