Stefanka Andreeva (Bulgarian: Стефка Андреева) known as Stefka Andreeva, is a contemporary Bulgarian poet and writer, journalist, reviewer, proofreader and editor, teacher and author of many materials for the press, online publications, blogs, etc.

Biography[edit]

Born on June 17, 1952 in Gorni Pasarel (now at the bottom of the Iskar Reservoir as well as the Kalkovo and Shishmanovo villages near Sofia). She went to the 12th secondary school in Sofia, and graduated with a bachelor´s degree in ´Bulgarian Philology´ with ´Pedagogy´ as a second specialty from Sofia University ´St. Kliment Ohridski´.

In her early years, she worked as a librarian, typist and part-time associate engaged by numerous newspapers and magazines. She was a Bulgarian language teacher at The Unified Secondary Polytechnic School with impaired hearing, Sofia University ´St. Kliment Ohridski´ Department for Language Teaching and International Students, the Foreign staff training center of ´Kremikovtzi´ plant and 138 High School ´Yuri Gagarin´. Since 2000 she has been a proofreader and editor at ´Planeta-7´ Publishing House and ´Anti´ Newspaper, as well as the author of diverse materials in the local and national press, electronic editions, blogs and texts for various websites.

She started writing poems in her school years, but published her works later. Only in 2002 did her first book ´Drops of Resin´ was published.

She became famous for her collection of poems ´Words unspoken´, winning the ´National Enlightener´ Award of the Union of Free Writers in Bulgaria. ´Ethereal moon´ published (in three cycles of poems - ´Book of Life´, ´Fragments - 2´ and ´Land of the Proud Bulgarians´) by the end of 2020 permanently reaffirmed her presence in the contemporary Bulgarian poetry.

Her works have been repeatedly published in the local and national press, anthologies, collections, almanacs, newspapers[1][2][3][4], magazines[5]and many others. She regularly participates with various poems in numerous poetry competitions [6][7][8], at the annual ´Autumn Salon of Poetry´[9][10][11]since its first edition in 2008, as well as in events held in the literary circles in Bulgaria and abroad.

Until 2020, she wrote mainly poetry and showed some of her writing talent in prose and journalism by publishing works in the magazine ´The World of Literature magazine´ in 2013 and 2018. She is interested also in children's poetry and prose (short stories and historical novels in particular), striving to develop and constantly expanding her skills and outlook. She admits that her knowledge of Russian and Slavic languages is essential for the formation and development of her works.

She has been a member of the Union of Free Writers in Bulgaria since 2006 [12] and of the Union of Bulgarian Artists - since 2021.
