Törzs is a Budapest based Hungarian post-rock / shoegaze trio. They have announced to release their upcoming album 'Tükör' in fall 2019. The first single from this album premiered on A Thousand Arms US label's comp release, called Open Language Volume IIII.[1]
History[edit]
The band was formed in 2014 by three members of the indie rock band, called Carbovaris, best new act nominee in Hungary by the Viva TV.[2]
The Budapest trio Tӧrzs take their name from Hungarian terminology that connects ideas which reference persistent evolution coupled with a coherence and continued clarity of conceptual vision.[3]
Their debut album was released in a form of a short movie which we presented in a small art cinema in Budapest.[4] This piece is about or struggles to find our way from daily life to a more content state of mind, connecting with nature. Its called "Magasra fel" (Up high). Their first album was titled as one of the best Hungarian albums by Phenom'enon magazine.[5]
Thier second album "Földön" On Earth came as a "poem inception" where the titles of the songs showed a short poem, and all the lyrics build up together a coherent story.[6] See the English translation here. The titles go: "I do not exist / Just happen / When / Everything / Begins / Between us / On Earth" .The album was made possible by the support from our community, who crowdfunded 1000€ on Indiegogo. [7]
They had gigs with a number of notable international acts, such as Lola Marsh [8] , Garbanotas Bosistas [9] , Aiming for Enrike [10] , Föllakzoid and Skaar.
Tükör[edit]
The band announced to release their third album in 2019 Fall. The entire album was recorded at the UNESCO World Heritage Aggtelek National Park's cave system in Hungary.[11] The first single was premiered on A Thousand Arms comp album on 26 July. [1] The first official music video was premiered on Heavy Blog Is Heavy. [12] [13]
"It’s kind of amazing the insane levels of professionalism involved in the making of this video. The sound quality, the visual quality, the story-telling are all done to the highest degree, whether inside the cave or outside at the beautiful park. The second thing you’ll notice is probably the echo. You can distinctly hear the guitars bouncing off of the earthen walls, returning in manifold back to your ears. It’s really not like any other delay or reverb I’ve hard; it’s much louder in ways but also sharper, creating a really interesting tone when it clashes with the “core” guitar sound." [14]- Heavy Blog Is Heavy.
The second single from the album called 'Hatodik' was premiered on Captured Howls [15], where the band also announced the release date 18th October and that the US digital distributor for the album is going to be A Thousand Arms label. [16]
The album was released on 2019 October 18th by A Thousand Arms digitally in the US. Later Golden Antenna Records label from Germany announced to release the album on vinyl on 10th January 2020.[17]
