Early life
T.E.C. was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in a single-parent household, raised by his mother and grandparents. His talent was noted as a young child, excelling in rhyming and rapping at an advanced level, starting just when he was eight years old.[4] In around 2007, he, along with five friends, formed the group ClickTight. He attended Belaire High School for one year before dropping out.
Music career
In around 2007, he and five friends formed the group ClickTight. They would record and create music for over a year prior to T.E.C. deciding to pursue his solo artistic endeavors. He would create numerous duets during this time with longtime friend Maine Musik and release their noted song, Purple Baby. In 2011, he gained the notice of hip-hop mogul Master P, who came across one of his songs while interviewing on Max 94.1 Radio Station in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In late 2011, he signed a 50-50 joint venture partnership with No Limit Forever Records.[5]
In 2012, after being featured on Nolimit's "We Outchea" [6] T.E.C. was arrested and charged with armed robbery and first-degree murder.[7] He would spend the next three years in state prison after the murder charges were dropped. Once released in 2015, he initially resumed recording and working with fellow label mate and childhood friend Maine Musik, recording for No Limit Forever Records.[8]
2017 saw the permanent departure of T.E.C. from No Limit Forever Records [9] and the creation of his own imprint, Spider Nation. He would go on to release numerous mixtapes and albums as a solo artist and with fellow up-and-coming rapper Maine Musik.[10]
In 2019, T.E.C. signed a distribution partnership with Empire Distribution.[11]
In June of 2021, TEC was involved in a single-car accident in which he totaled his new C8 2021 Corvette and was briefly hospitalized.[12]
