T.L. Platts (1931-1998) was a local historian and author from Hackenthorpe, Derbyshire, a village that would later become a part of Sheffield. His writings mainly pertained to the local area, including Hackenthorpe itself, Beighton and Ridgeway, Derbyshire.[1]
Early life
Thomas Leslie Platts was born in 1931 to Leslie Platts, a Hackenthorpe native, and Catherine Snowden. His father, Leslie, was a coal miner who was born on Brook Lane to a father from Brampton, Derbyshire.
