Taz (born Tesmond Rowe) is a Jamaican born rapper known for co-writing and producing Dizzee Rascal's 'Jus A Rascal' and production & remix work for the likes of Ashanti's ‘Rain On Me’ and ‘Rock Wit Chu’ as well as notable credits on ‘Locked Up’ from Akon.

Fusing Jamaican Dancehall elements with British Rap is what makes Taz's sound so unique and has allowed his music career to span over 22 years..

Biography[edit]

Taz was born in Jamaica where he remained up to the age of 12 where he soaked up the local vibes and developed a passion for music. Rich in musical history, Taz's family taught him how to manouvre around the different aspects of the entertainment industry.

Respectfully known for co-writing and producing Dizzee Rascal's 'Jus A Rascal' and production work for the likes of Ashanti's ‘Rain On Me’ and ‘Rock Wit Chu’ as well as notable credits on ‘Locked Up’ from Akon's 'Trouble' LP, earning Taz two platinum discs and chart exposure on both sides of the Atlantic.

Career[edit]

supported Dizzee Rascal on various tours and was credited on majority of acclaimed awards and nominations including The Mercury Award Prize 2003, Mobo's and The Brits 2004.

Voicing the chorus to one of Grime's most notable instrumentals, Taz can be heard on the original vocal of Wiley's 'Eskimo'

In 2004 'Learn' was taken from Dizzee Rascal's second album Showtime and was synced for 'Step brothers The Movie' 'Skins' and 'Match of The day' which Taz co wrote and produced.

Taz featured on the remix of Akon's worldwide smash hit ‘Locked Up’ for the European market; he instantly took the track to a whole new level, assisting Akon in gaining the credibility he needed for the European market. In 2005 Taz parted ways with Def Jam by way of mutual consent and is now working his projects independently.

2019 saw the release of house fused track 'Rock The Mic' a collaboration with Mousse T which went certified Gold via Glitterbox. Working alongside some of the world's most talented Grammy nominated artist's and rappers has gained him global respect and success.

Taz is also a voiceover artist and has worked with campaigns for Adidas amongst others. He is currently working on a new project and is set to reappear in the mainstream in 2020.
