TEXEL Energy[4] (formerly United Sun Systems International Ltd) is a Swedish green technology company specializing in the production of hybrid battery technologies.
History
The company was founded in 2010 by Lars Jacobsson in 2010 as United Sun Systems. In 2018, the company was rebranded as TEXEL Energy Storage.[5]
In 2012, following the bankruptcy of the American company Stirling Energy Systems, United Sun Systems acquired the Stirling Energy Systems Maricopa solar plant in Phoenix, Arizona, through a joint venture with a Chinese-American corporation. In September 2018, TEXEL entered into a licensing agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) for a novel energy storage solution. The same year, the company’s technology was recognized at the DOE X-Labs Energy Storage Summit, hosted by Stanford University at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in Silicon Valley, as a breakthrough in energy storage beyond lithium-based solutions.[6]
