Tameko Star (born Doris Diggs, 8 August) is an American singer and songwriter, initially known as a member of 1990s Italian Eurodance group Livin' Joy.[1]

Life[edit]

Tameko's career kicked off after a live broadcast of her singing with a local band, on radio, was heard by two Italian producers, Ricardo Stecca, Andrea Acchioni and Massimo Artusi. Because of this, she then performed house and techno jams including "Feel the Rhythm", "Now I feel", "Love Makes Me High" and "Going in Circles". The singles were released under Italian label, Irma Records with some success.[2]

In the late 90s, Tameko became the leader singer of Livin' Joy, after Janice Robinson's departure, in which she scored more hits for the group during the 1995–1996 period including Don't Stop Movin, Where Can I Find Love and Follow The Rules. In addition, Tameko also released an album titled 'Don't Stop Movin' in 1996 with the group. 'Don't Stop Movin' reached No. 5 on the UK Singles Chart in Spring of that year and became a summer hit, followed by Follow The Rules which reached Top 10 in the UK. Plans for a second album were planned but were then scrapped.

In 2020, Tameko performed Don't Stop Movin for a one-off concert for the NHS Covid-19 front-line appeal, which aired on Hot Radio. The performance was then uploaded to Star's official YouTube channel.[3]

In 2022, Tameko announced on her official Instagram she is working on a new EP and shows across Europe.[2]
