Tandean Rustandy, MBA, is an Indonesian entrepreneur, academician and philanthropist who is the founder and CEO of Arwana Ceramics.

Early Life and Education

Rustandy was born in the city Pontianak, West Kalimantan, on December 7, 1965.[1] He went to the University of Colorado Boulder for his undergraduate education, from which he graduated with a degree in finance in 1987.[2] Tandean is also an alumnus of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business from which he graduated with a Master of Business Administration degree in 2007.[3]

Business career

Rustandy and several partners founded Arwana Ceramics on February 22, 1993, in Jakarta, Indonesia. The company is engaged in the production of ceramic tiles and in 2001 became a publicly listed company.

Philanthropy

Rustandy is active in the fields of education and philanthropy. The University of Chicago renamed its program for advancing social business innovations as the Rustandy Center for Social Sector Innovation.[4] The University of Colorado Boulder named one of its campus buildings as the Rustandy Building.[5] As of 2023, Rustandy sits on the Board of Trustees of the University of Chicago, and on the Global Advisors of the Yale School of Management.[6] He is a recipient of the George Norlin Award from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2021.[7] The University of Chicago Divinity School and the Leeds School of Business have an endowed professorship and a deanship named after him, respectively.[8][9]
