Tankeshwar Kumar (born 17 October 1963)[1] is an Indian physicist and academician. He is currently serving as the vice-chancellor of Central University of Haryana.[2] He has also served as vice chancellor of Guru Jambeshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar.[3][4] His research work has h-index 25 and has more than 2400 citations.[5] He also served as a member of National Academy of Sciences.[6]

Early life and education[edit]

Kumar was born on October 17, 1963 in Yamunanagar, Haryana.[6] He completed his B.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, Maths from Kurukshetra University in 1983 and went on to earn his M.Sc in Physics from Panjab University, Chandigarh in 1985.[7] He received his Ph.D. in Theoretical Solid State Physics from Panjab University in 1990.[1] He also held a Post Doctoral Fellowship at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy, in 1991.[8]
