Tanuj Khatri (born 13 January 1989) is an Indian politician from Jharkhand and a former president of the Ranchi University P. G. Students' Union, was a student leader of the Jharkhand Chatra Morcha,[1] the students' wing of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and is presently one of the Spokespersons and News panelist of JMM.[2][3][4] He represents his party in local and national media. He holds a PhD from Ranchi University.

Early life[edit]

Tanuj Khatri was born in January 1989, and brought up in Ranchi (Jharkhand). His father, Shri Dev Raj Khatri was an elected Ward Councillor of Ranchi Municipal corporation in 1986. His early schooling was completed from St. Mary's School and higher secondary education from D. A. V. He has graduated from St. Xavier's College (2007–2010) in Bachelor of Advertising and Marketing. He also acquired degree of Master's in Business administration (2010–2012) and in Human Rights Education(2012–14). He is a PhD holder in Business Management from Ranchi University. In 2019, he completed his PhD on 'Telecommunication Industries in India- Its Challenges and Opportunities'.

In 2012 during campus placement, Tanuj Khatri was selected in multiple companies and chose to work with Apollo Tyres Ltd. (a multinational company) as a territory manager with the highest package of that time among all other universities of Ranchi but, he left to serve the Students and Youth Community across Jharkhand.

Political career[edit]

Tanuj Khatri was sincerely active in student politics ever since his graduation (2007). In 2010 he began as a student leader of National Students' Union of India (NSUI) but later joined Jharkhand Chatra Morcha (JCM) in 2015. By this time Khatri had already become a popular face among the students.

While he was enrolled as a PhD scholar in 2016, he was elected as the President of Ranchi University P. G. Students' Union.

In 2017, Tanuj Khatri went to London (United Kingdom) as a representative of Jharkhand as well as India by British High Commission under a student leadership program.[5] On 19 July 2019, Tanuj Khatri was made the spokesperson of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha by the party president Shibu Soren and Hemant Soren (present CM of Jharkhand).

Controversy[edit]

In 2017, the Ranchi University lodged a case in Kotwali thana against Tanuj Khatri of 'assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty' under the IPC section- 504 & 353.[6][7]
