Tap Network is an American social media platform that launched for iOS and Android in July 2021, with an official release slated for February 2023. The platform is a social media portfolio with photo sharing services and a freelance payment processor. The app was designed as a freelance service hub offering businesses and brands the one stop location to collaborate with influencers, providing service gig features and offer negotiation tools on a single platform. Users are able to offer services directly within their profile and get paid in-app.

It was founded by Donovan Benko, a Boise State University student who began the project in late 2020. Classmate Sebastian Frazier and brother Simon Benko soon joined him as COO and CMO, respectively. The app began development in early 2021 with the slogan "Customizable. Monetizable. Secure."

Tap has distinguished itself by being a future-oriented platform. Unlike apps that highlight past accomplishments or exist in the 'now,' Tap Network encourages users to create content that is oriented to future goals and aspirations. The company has stated a commitment to safety, creating a healthy social media experience.

    History[edit]

The app began development in Boise, Idaho by Donovan Benko, Sebastian Frazier, and Simon Benko. In March 2021, Tap Network was a finalist at the Idaho Entrepreneur Challenge[1] hosted by Boise State's Venture College. Tap Network raised a $100,000 convertible note angel investment in May of 2021, leading the company to receive a $2 million post-money valuation. These funds were used to build and launch the first version of the Tap Network app, with the goal to be "a better social media."

Tap Network app received a soft release on July 4th, 2021 to allow investors and influencers the ability to access the published app interface. Tap Network slated an official release for February 2023, marked by the 2.0 version update of the app.

In 2022, the company publicly established their mission statement to read "Inspiring Ambition, Monetizing Imagination, Transcending Mediocrity, Actualizing Dreams."

    Features and tools[edit]

The basic functionality of Tap Network allows users to create profiles, allowing them to link their other social profiles and a digital resume that lets users input their contact, bio, skills, education, experience, work history, and extra-curricular activities. Users can also upload resume files that other users can download as a PDF.

Photos can be taken or imported from the device's camera roll, in addition to short videos. Users have the option to post these photos to their profile with captions and location, as well as attaching emotions, tagging music, offering services, and including web links. Users can engage with content through likes and comments, with the options to share posts to other users through direct messages or bookmark posts that are "saved" in a private folder on the app.

    Customizable Visual Settings

Tap Network v1.9 allows users to alter the interface through a variety of options:

    • Appearance: Users can select between Light Mode 1.0, Dark Mode 1.0, and Dark Mode 2.0.
    • Post Visual Styles: Users can alter their profile feed between Grid, Series, Gallery, and Horizontal.
    • Shown Media Categories: Users can switch a toggle to hide (or show) the Photo, Video, and Highlight tabs from their profile

    Services

Tap Network provides users with the option to create in-app services gigs by enabling the services feature through the settings. By enabling services, users are prompted to link their Tap Network profile to a Stripe account. When users add service gigs to their profiles, other creator and business accounts are able to inquire about available services. Users offering services can submit offers, listing the offer description, service price, delivery date, and can toggle delivery between in-person and virtual. These services can be purchased through Tap Network's direct message chats.

Star RatingsFollowing service gig transactions, users can provide star ratings to create transparency for future customers and employers. A safeguarding method for end-consumers, the star ratings range from one to five and are be located in each user's profile.

    Accumulated Following

In addition to listing the follows you have on Tap Network, the app allows you to link other social profiles, creating an accumulated reach of other social accounts. This services was introduced to allow users the opportunity to capitalize on their pre-existing followings, showcasing a social portfolio that potential brand partners can locate. By clicking into the reach, other users can access the linked social media profiles.

    Filter Search

Users are able to filter content on the app to control their feed, searching via post location, select niches, "Following" or "For You" content, "New" or "Top" content, and toggling based on users offering services that are Remote or In-Person.

Filtered User SearchOne of Tap Network's flagship features, users can discover creators and businesses searching by niche, location, star ratings, total reach, and Tap followings.
