Taras Mykolayovych Bobanich (15 March 1989 – 8 April 2022) was a participant in the Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity of 2014, and former head of the far-right Ukrainian nationalist Right Sector group in Lviv, Ukraine.

Early life[edit]

Taras Bobanych was born on 15 March 1989 in the city of Truskavets, Lviv region. He graduated with a degree in law from the Lviv State University of Internal Affairs [uk] in 2011.[1]

In 2007, he was an active participant in Right Sector, a far-right Ukrainian nationalist movement, within the Lviv region. He became the region's head in March 2014, and took an active part in the Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity in 2014. He ran in the 2014 snap elections of people's deputies of Ukraine. In 2020, he was elected to a member of Right Sector's leadership board.[1]

Since July 2014, he has been the Commander of the 2nd Reserve Battalion of the Right Sector Ukrainian Volunteer Corps, which in February 2016 was reorganised into the 2nd Reserve Hundred Ukrainian Volunteer Corps. He took part in the war in the Donbas. In 2015, he was one of the coordinators of a commodity blockade with Crimea after it was occupied and annexed by Russia.[2]

Death[edit]

He died on 8 April 2022 in the battle against Russian troops during their invasion of Ukraine.[2][3][4][5][6]
