Taren Schive (born October 8, 2003)[2] is an American football placekicker for the Boise State Broncos. He previously played for the San Jose State Spartans.
High School Career[edit]
Schive attended John W. North High School in Riverside, California. He was the Huskies primary kicker and punter for his sophomore, junior and senior season.[3] During his three season campaign, he converted 89 of 94 PAT's and six of nine field goal attempts.[4] Schive was ranked a five star kicker in the Class of 2021 through Chris Sailer Kicking. Schive was the #22 kicker in the class of 2021 before committing to San Jose State over Weber State.[5][6][7]
College Career[edit]
2021 - Freshman Season[edit]
During Schive's freshman season, he handled kickoff duties for all 12 competitions. Schive made his first career start against the Southern Utah Thunderbirds on August 28, 2021, kicking five of eight kickoffs for touchbacks.[8] He finished the season with 28 touchbacks on 54 kickoffs for 3,270 yards. Schive also was named to the Academic All-Mountain West football team for the 2021 season.
2022 - Sophomore Season[edit]
Schive picked up field goal duties in addition to kickoffs ahead of the 2022 season. After missing both of his first two collegiate field goal attempts, once against Portland State and once against Auburn, he would go on to knock five straight including a perfect two for two against Western Michigan.[9] His career high for attempts made in a game came against Auburn with three field goals from 33 yards, 27 yards, and 37 yards. Schive's career long field goal of 43 yard came in the contest against the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He would finish the 2022 campaign going 12 for 18 (66.7%) on field goals with five of his six misses coming in the first half of the season and 37 for 40 on PAT attempts with two of those being blocked.
