Eagle of Taron
The Eagle of Taron is the symbol of Tseghakronism and Taronism

Taronism (also: Taron Movement) is an Armenian national ideology proclaimed in 1937, the purpose of which was to protect Armenians in the Armenian Diaspora and to return the Diaspora Armenians to their homeland. According to Garegin Nzhdeh, one of the ideologues of Taronism, it is a struggle between pan-Armenianism and partiality, Armenian orientation and foreignism.

Historical Overview[edit]

The Taron movement was founded in 1937-1938 by Garegin Nzhdeh, Hayk Asatryan, Nerses Astvatsaturyan and by their ideologues. With their departure from the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, certain disagreements began among the ideologues of Tseghakronism. The Tseghakron Covenants of the United States of America were no longer perceived as the basis of a pan-Armenian structure. Because of these and similar disagreements, there was a need to create a new pan-Armenian movement.

The need to establish Taronism was also conditioned by the fact that Tseghakronism did not deeply clarify a number of key questions, such as the questions about Creation and the spirit. At the same time, the Armenian Apostolic Church had a certain negative attitude towards Tseghakronism and was a rather influential force in the Armenian Diaspora. This circumstance also created problems in the spread of Tseghakronism.

A key role in the founding of Taronism was played by the Bulgarian Tseghakron organization under the leadership of Garegin Nzhdeh, Hayk Asatryan and Nerses Astvatsaturyan. From February 7, 1937, the newspaper "Razmik" began to be published in Plovdiv, and information about the Taron movement

began to be published in its pages from the same year. The support of the newly created movement was the Taron-Turuberan patriotic union founded in the USA in 1917. It had a great influence in the Armenian Diaspora and was the driving force of the Tseghkaron movement in the Armenian communities.

Tribe and Fatherland: The Bases of The Taron Worldview[edit]

The ontological depth of Taron's worldview is the Tribe, the species, which is a biological, natural understanding, but not a historical one, like the nationality or the people. The general overarching goal defined by Taronism was the perpetuation of the race, and the biological qualities of the race - blood and spirit, which are continuous according to the law of inheritance. Taronism accepts the mutual influence of the physical and mental characteristics (blood and spirit) of the tribe as an innate truth. There is the idea of the Holy Communion in Taronism.
