TaxDome is an American company that develops a cloud-based and AI-powered software platform of the same name for tax, bookkeeping, and accounting firms. The platform belongs to the category of accounting practice management software: it combines client relationship management, workflow automation, document storage, electronic signatures, billing, a client portal and app, and AI-powered automation in a single subscription service.
TaxDome's users range from accounting large firms with 100+ employees to solo practitioners.[1] The company was founded in 2017 by brothers Victor and Ilya Radzinsky.[1][2] As of mid-2026, TaxDome reported that more than 15,000 firms in over 25 countries use its software.[1]
History
TaxDome grew out of proprietary practice management software that the Radzinsky brothers had originally built for a single accounting firm. The company was established in March 2017,[2] and according to its own account, the business started in a coworking space in Brooklyn.[1]
In January 2021, TaxAct, a developer of professional tax preparation software, announced a partnership with TaxDome. Under the arrangement, TaxDome supplied practice management, e-signature, document storage, CRM, client portal, and mobile app functions to tax professionals using TaxAct.[3]
By October 2023, Accounting Today reported that the company served more than 10,000 firms in 25 countries and had a staff of about 250. In the same interview, Ilya Radzinsky described a recently completed IRS integration that allowed practitioners to download client tax transcripts inside the platform. He also said the company planned to release an SMS integration, new client mobile apps, and a module for proposals and engagement letters.[2]
Several features based on artificial intelligence (AI) followed in 2024. A client-facing project status feature and an AI-assisted reporting tool were released first, and in August 2024 the company launched TaxDome AI, a system that tags and renames documents uploaded by clients.[4] In July 2025, TaxDome introduced intake and delivery functionality integrated with Juno, a provider of AI tax preparation automation software, so that document collection, return preparation, and delivery could be handled within one workflow.[5] The trade publication CPA Trendlines placed the release in the context of a competitive practice management market that also included vendors such as Canopy, Karbon, and Aiwyn.[6] Later that year, the company launched TaxDome Client Care, a service that handles portal support questions directly from the clients of subscribing firms.[7]
In 2026, TaxDome reported approximately 400 employees and support for over a dozen interface languages. The company describes itself as founder-led and bootstrapped. It also announced additional AI functionality, including TaxDome Atlas, API, and MCP, and released TaxDome Kiosk, an in-person experience for firm clients that continue to visit their accountants office and need their information synced with firms' online systems.[1]
Software platform
TaxDome is delivered as software as a service (SaaS). Firm staff work in a web browser or desktop application, while their clients use a firm-branded web portal or mobile apps for iOS and Android.[1]
Work management is organized around pipelines. A firm defines the stages of a recurring service, such as an individual tax return or a monthly bookkeeping engagement, and the software can assign tasks, set deadlines, send reminders, and request documents from clients automatically as each job moves from one stage to the next.[1] In a 2023 interview, Ilya Radzinsky gave the example of a signed engagement letter triggering an invoice, with payment of that invoice in turn creating a filing task for staff.[2] A separate module, Bookkeeping Hub, is designed for firms that manage recurring monthly bookkeeping clients.[1]
The client-facing side of the platform includes a CRM with contact and communication histories, secure messaging, document storage with folder templates and permission controls, digital tax organizers, electronic signatures, and proposals with engagement letters. Billing tools cover time tracking, one-time and recurring invoices, and online payment collection through TaxDome Payments; firms can also lock documents until an invoice is paid.[1] TaxDome AI assigns descriptive file names and document-type tags, such as W-2 or 1099, to client uploads. Accounting Today reported that, according to the company, scanned data is neither stored nor used to train AI models. The AI-assisted reporting tool generates charts and tables in response to questions about firm data, such as average invoice amounts.[4]
TaxDome does not prepare tax returns or maintain a general ledger. Its co-founder has described the intended setup as two kinds of systems: tax and accounting programs that perform the technical work, and TaxDome for managing the rest of the firm's operations.[2] The platform therefore connects to other products, including QuickBooks Online; professional tax software such as TaxAct, Drake, Lacerte, ProSeries, ProConnect, CCH Axcess Tax, and TaxSlayer; the UK Companies House registry; Stripe; Zapier; and calendar scheduling tools.[1] The company states that its infrastructure holds SOC 2 Type II certification and supports multi-factor authentication, role-based permissions, and audit trails.[1]
Industry research and resources
Alongside its software, TaxDome publishes reports about the accounting profession. Its 2025 Annual Report combines company updates with the founders' views on artificial intelligence, hiring, and the profession's future.[7] In 2026 the company began issuing a quarterly Accounting Industry Index, which it says is based on operational data from more than 15,000 firms using its platform.[8]
Niche Business Accounting Report
The Niche Business Accounting Report is a study commissioned by TaxDome on how businesses find, select, and retain accounting firms.[9][10] Unlike most industry surveys, which question accountants, it polled the clients: 353 business leaders and owners from a range of industries, with annual revenues between $1 million and $100 million.[9][11] The report is aimed at tax, bookkeeping, and accounting firms considering a specialization in particular industries or client types.[10]
According to the report, businesses with more than $1 million in annual revenue were twice as likely as smaller businesses to hire an accountant specializing in their industry, and respondents indicated a willingness to pay up to 25% more for specialized services. Referrals were the main way of finding a firm, with 58% of respondents saying they had found their current accountant through one.[11] TaxDome also reported that 98% of businesses that left a specialist firm went on to hire another specialist.[10] Besides the survey results, the publication contains case studies of three firms that built their practices around a niche and a model that TaxDome calls the "niche growth funnel."[10]
Accountant & Advisor Finder
The TaxDome Accountant & Advisor Finder is a free online directory of accounting, tax, bookkeeping, and financial professionals whose firms use the TaxDome platform. Visitors can browse four categories (accountants, bookkeepers, financial advisors, and fractional chief financial officers) and search by location, specialty, or language. Each profile describes the firm's areas of specialization and the kinds of clients it usually serves.[12]
Only firms that use TaxDome can be listed; they apply for inclusion, and the company reviews each application. TaxDome states that the directory carries no advertising and that a visitor's contact details are shared with a firm only if the visitor chooses to provide them. Once a client hires a listed firm, the engagement takes place through the TaxDome client app.[12] The directory is presented as a way to locate firms that work through the platform, not as a ranking or certification of the professionals listed.[12]
Recognition
Most of the recognition TaxDome has received comes from user-voted awards and software review platforms rather than from judged editorial competitions. In the CPA Practice Advisor Readers' Choice Awards, which are decided by votes from tax and accounting professionals, the company reports winning the Comprehensive Firm Workflow Solutions category in 2024 and seven categories in 2025.[1] In the 2026 edition, for which nearly 4,000 professionals voted, the magazine listed TaxDome as the winner in nine categories including practice management, client portals, document management, workflow systems, and time and billing.[13]
The company also cites Silver Stevie Awards for Customer Service Team of the Year in the computer software category (2025 and 2026) and for Employer of the Year, as well as first place on Capterra's Shortlist for accounting practice management software in 2024 and 2025. Capterra's rankings are calculated from verified user reviews and related metrics.[1]
TaxDome's client-facing app has garnered tens of thousands of positive reviews in both the iOS and Android app stores. In 2026, The Webby Awards recognized the app as an official Honoree in the Fintech, Financial Services & Banking category — other companies in this category included Apple Card, HSBC, and TurboTax.[14]
