Taye Balogun (born 6 June) is a Nigerian director, photographer, pan-Africanist and social justice campaigner.[1][2] He is best known for his work on the documentary film Music Is Our Weapon (2016).[3][4]

Life and career[edit]

Taye was born and raised in Nigeria and graduated from University of Lagos with a degree in chemistry, Later studied film at the National Film Institute in Jos, Nigeria.[5][6] His photography exhibition, Pan-African themed Why Africans are Not United showcased in various cities in Africa including Nairobi, Kampala and Dar es Salaam.[7]

In 2016, Taye directed and produced the documentary film Music Is Our Weapon, based on the Kenyan band Sarabi.[8] It screened at Georgetown University and Toronto Black Film Festival.[9][10]
