Taylore Ray Williams (Born June 21, 1994), stage name Taye Bans, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter from Pittsburgh, PA. Slated to make his debut in June of 2021, Bans is already on many radars.
Early Life
Williams was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was raised in the Hill District area by his mother and has one older brother. His range of musical talents extends from vocals to his ability to play multiple instruments. He attended The Barack Obama Academy of International Studies for high school. He then attended Robert Morris University, eventually receiving both a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, and later a Master's degree in Cyber Forensics.
Artistic Influences
Growing up, Taye was heavily influenced by Lil Wayne, Drake, T-Pain and Outkast. Being his favorite rapper, Taye gives a lot of praise to Lil Wayne. He studied his ability to integrate wordplay into a melodic style. T-Pain's autotune, along with Wayne's, piqued his interest as you can hear throughout his music today. Taye remains a big fan of those artists as well as some of the newer acts including Gunna, Young Thug, Lil Baby, Travis Scott, Tory Lanez and A Boogie, to name a few. Also influenced by his upbringing, he portrays hard times in half-sung melodies using Auto-Tune. He describes his music as having real melodic sounds when singing about struggles, heartbreak, or fame and fortune.
Career
2020: Career Beginnings
Taye Bans began as a mix engineer for various artists in Pittsburgh. He worked out of ID Labs, known for producing Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller. Quickly falling in love with the artistry, he tried his hand at rapping and has never looked back.
