The Teatro Nazionale di Genova (en. National Theatre of Genoa), also known as Teatro Stabile di Genova, is a theatrical institution based in Genoa, Italy, and one of the main opera house of the country.[1]
It manages four halls in the city: Teatro della Corte, Teatro Duse, Teatro Modena, Sala Mercato - Teatro dell'Archivolto.[2]
Description[edit]
The theater was founded in 1951. Throughout its history, the Teatro Nazionale di Genova has become a cultural institution with a strong vocation for drama production: in fact, up to December 2017 it has produced 383 shows, 132 of them on Italian texts, and 251 on foreign texts. In its programme, cultural events - such as conferences and meetings - have been alternated with the classic and modern dramaturgy.[3]
The audience steadily ranged aroung 250,000 people per season,[4] while after the enlargment of the institution in 2018, it increased to 320,000 people per season.[2]
Since its foundation it was headed for 45 by Ivo Chiesa, from 2000 by Carlo Repetti, and from 2014 by Angelo Pastore.[1]
