Technology, Exploration and Career Center East (TECC-E or TECC-East) or previously[2] Career Center East (CCE) is the second of two vocational schools built by the Lewisville Independent School District under their Career and Technical Education (CTE) initiative. Located in Lewisville, Texas, TECC-E serves students from the five Lewisville ISD high schools - Lewisville High School, Marcus High School, The Colony High School, Hebron High School, and Flower Mound High School - and each school’s respective 9th and 10th grade campuses. TECC-E was first opened in time for the 2010 academic year, in order to accommodate a growing CTE student population. The subjects offered by the campus are technical courses intended to prepare students for high-demand careers.[3]
The “East” in the campus’s name refers to its geographical relationship to Interstate 35E.[4]
Elective structure[edit]
Instead of taking a standard local elective, students from Lewisville ISD’s secondary schools may instead opt to take a Career Center elective (some of which require a student to have already completed 10th or 11th grade). Students are bused from their home campus to one of the two Career Centers for either a morning (first two out of four periods; 8:20AM - 11:27AM) or afternoon (last two out of four periods; 12:32PM - 3:35PM) session, and are bused back afterwards. Although some overlap exists, both career centers offer differing options for electives: compared to its sister school Dale Jackson Career Center, TECC-E offers courses with a heavier focus on STEM subjects.
