Technomad is an American company that specializes in making loudspeakers for the professional audio and military/security industries.[1] Its products include weatherproof loudspeakers,[1][5][6] turnkey PA systems,[1][7][8] and weatherproof amplifiers.[1][5] Technomad is known for inventing the first full-range weatherproof loudspeakers.[1] Technomad has worked with Disney, the White House, and the U.S. military.[2]
Overview[edit]
Technomad began as a subsidiary of Hardigg Industries, Inc. in 1994 before founder Karl von Kries spun it off as a separate company in 1995.[2] It was later bought by Pelican Industries.[9]
Its products have been used in locations such as Western Washington University,[6] Middle Tennessee State University's Murphy Center Complex,[10] Stade François Coty,[11] Dallas World Aquarium,[12] SkiStar,[13] Rommel Fernandez Stadium,[14] Zayed Cricket Stadium,[15] Jamsil Baseball Stadium,[16] and Dry Gulch, USA (now known as New Life Ranch Frontier Cove).[17]
Technomad has partnered with founder Karl von Kries's other company, Light Manufacturing, to use solar heat for molding their audio components.[2][3][18][9]
