Taona Oswald Chipunza (born December 12, 1996), professionally known as Teemak, All White God or All White Lord, is a Zimbabwean singer, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur and music promoter. His signature sound fuses Afrobeat rhythms, Amapiano bounce, and traditional Sungura guitar work, delivering smooth, harmony rich vocals over guitar forward productions.[1]
He first gained prominence in Zimbabwe's entertainment industry in early 2020 through high profile sponsorships, artist signings, and the launch of One House Zimbabwe, the country's first Big Brother style reality show concept. After a period away from the spotlight, Teemak made a widely covered comeback in 2025 with the release of his debut EP Mavambo under his own label Lord Empire Music, marking a definitive pivot toward his music career.[2][3]
Beyond his solo career, Teemak has established himself as a sought after record producer through Lord Empire Music, shaping the sound of emerging Zimbabwean artists. He produces using Logic Pro and is credited as producer on numerous tracks by rising Afrobeats artist KSG Di Don, including breakout hits such as "Usatye", "Hwahwa", "Forever", "Jeri", and "Kwenya".[4][5][6]
His earlier musical releases include the singles "Heaven and Hell" (2015), which set a record for the longest consecutive run at the top of the Zim Top Ten chart on Zambezi Magic, and "24" featuring Roki (2017).[7][8]
Early life and education
Born in Harare, Zimbabwe, Teemak moved to Malaysia at the age of 13 to pursue his education. He completed both high school and university studies in Malaysia, where he studied Computer Science before leaving to pursue business ventures full time. In an interview with The Herald, he described the decision as driven by a desire to achieve financial independence at a young age and invest in empowering young Zimbabweans.[9]
The name "Teemak" is derived from his first name "Taona" and "Makanyara", his late mother's name. Previously known as Lil Tee, he dropped the "Lil" and added "Mak" to honour his mother, whom he cites as his greatest source of inspiration.
His earliest musical memory, as shared on his Apple Music artist profile, is singing with his mother at age nine and learning to play piano in the family study room.[2]
Music career
Early releases (2012 to 2017)
Teemak released his first single "Good Life" featuring Black Gs and CJ in 2012 while still based in Malaysia. He followed this with "Heaven and Hell" in 2015, which earned significant attention after setting a record for the longest consecutive run at the number one position on the Zim Top Ten show on DStv's Zambezi Magic channel.[7]
In 2017, he released "24" featuring award winning Zimbabwean artist Roki, and "SummerNight", both available on major streaming platforms including Spotify and Apple Music.[8]
He has cited Jon Connor, J. Cole, and Tupac Shakur as his primary musical influences.[10]
2025 comeback: Mavambo EP
In April 2025, Teemak released Mavambo, his debut EP, under his own record label Lord Empire Music. The title, meaning "beginnings" in Shona, was released on Zimbabwe's Independence Day, April 18, a date chosen to symbolise both national pride and Teemak's personal rebirth. The six track project features the songs "4U", "Chioma Na Davido", "Something Special", "Furatire", "Back to Me", and "Painful". The EP was accompanied by an instrumental companion release, Mavambo (The Instrumentals), released on the same date.[2][11][1]
All tracks on Mavambo were written by Taona "Teemak" Chipunza. The EP was mixed and mastered by Nxrth, with guitar work by Shamex. It was executive produced by Teemak and Louis "Billy" Chifura, with photography by E4ffortless Studios and graphic design by Jackson Fubara.[1]
The lead single "Something Special" was released with an official music video. The track "Chioma na Davido" also received a music video, featuring production by Young OG Beats.[12]
The comeback was covered by multiple Zimbabwean media outlets. The DailyNews Zimbabwe reported on his return in an article titled "Teemak makes a comeback" on April 22, 2025, while NashTV described it as a "triumphant comeback" in the music scene.[3][13]
"Disemba" single
On December 12, 2025, his birthday, Teemak released the single "Disemba" through Lord Empire Music. The track was self produced by Teemak and features 4x Grammy Award nominee Promise the Guitarist. It fuses Amapiano rhythms with Sungura inspired guitars, capturing what he described as December's emotional magic. The single was mixed and mastered by Nxrth.[14][1]
Production work
In addition to his solo career, Teemak has established himself as a sought after record producer through Lord Empire Music. Working primarily with Logic Pro and drawing on his skills as a keyboard and guitar player, he has shaped the sound of emerging Zimbabwean artists, most notably KSG Di Don, for whom he has produced an extensive catalogue of tracks. His production style blends Afrobeat, Amapiano and Sungura elements, reflecting the same fusion approach heard in his solo work.[1]
His production credits for KSG Di Don include "Usatye", "Hwahwa", "Forever" (featuring Qounfuzed), "Kwenya" (featuring Poptain), "Jeri", "Gara", "Song Yako", "Musharukwa", "Seshiri", "Undimirire", "Louder" (featuring Jnr Spragga), and "Ndichakuda Zvekuti".[4][5][6][1]
Entertainment ventures
Teemak Promotions and artist management
In January 2020, Teemak signed award winning Zimdancehall artist Enzo Ishall to Teemak Promotions in a deal reported to be worth approximately US$100,000, one of the largest artist contracts in Zimbabwean music history at the time. The signing ceremony was held at a five star hotel in Harare and was widely covered by media including The Herald, Nehanda Radio, and NewsDay.[9][15][16]
Shortly after, Teemak Promotions signed R&B artist Takudzwa "Takue" Ncube as its second act, with plans for new singles and music videos.[17]
Teemak also made headlines in early 2020 for purchasing a car for popular Zimbabwean DJ Towers (Tawanda Marimbe), and for sponsoring the Zimdancehall Awards when the 2020 edition faced financial difficulties. He covered all attendee costs, stating it was his way of giving back and supporting the local arts scene. He also sponsored the Changamire Hip Hop Festival Awards by purchasing all 500 tickets, rendering the event free for attendees.[9][16][18]
In February 2020, Teemak partnered with Star FM to sponsor prize money for winners of the 2nd edition of the Star FM Music Awards. Each category winner received a cash prize of US$300, with Teemak stating that his goal was to acknowledge the efforts of the artists.[19][20]
In mid 2020, Teemak Promotions sponsored the music video for "Wakatemba" by ExQ featuring Tocky Vibes, directed by Vusa Blaqs. The single went on to reach number one on Zimbabwean charts and accumulated over 1.3 million views on YouTube.[21][22]
One House Zimbabwe
In February 2020, Teemak and business partner Prince "Mr Styllz" Mudzingwa launched One House Zimbabwe, a reality television show concept modelled on Big Brother Africa, with a grand prize of US$50,000. The show was officially unveiled at Meikles Hotel in Harare and received coverage from The Herald, Nehanda Radio, and other outlets.[23][24]
The show was designed to run for 30 days, targeting contestants aged 21 to 30, with the aim of promoting Zimbabwean culture and creating local entertainment brands. The project was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and has not yet aired.[23]
Business background
Before entering the entertainment industry, Teemak worked as a salesperson for a United Kingdom based green energy investment company while based in Malaysia, where he achieved sales exceeding US$500,000. He subsequently founded Maximus Capital, a forex trading venture.[9]
In 2020, Maximus Capital faced significant business challenges, with investors raising complaints about the fund's operations. The matter attracted media attention and led to disputes across multiple jurisdictions.[25] In September 2025, a South African Police Service affidavit confirmed that the case (CAS 195/2/2021) had been resolved through an agreement reached by both parties, and the associated warrant of arrest was formally cancelled.[26] The Herald reported on Teemak publicly addressing the matter and his fresh start.[27]
