Taona Oswald Chipunza (born December 12, 1996), professionally known as Teemak, is a Zimbabwean businessman, promoter and musician known for founding Maximus Capital, a hedge fund based on forex trading.[5]

Background and Business[edit]

Born in Harare, Zimbabwe, TeeMak moved to Malaysia at the age of 13 to pursue his studies. He says the name TeeMak is derived from his first name and Makanyara – his late mother’s name. Previously known as Lil Tee, he dropped the “Lil” and added “Mak” to honour his mother who he cites as his greatest source of inspiration. He released his first single Good Life featuring Black Gs, CJ in 2012.

Before establishing his own firm TeeMak started out as a salesperson, selling investment opportunities in green energy for a United Kingdom-based company and achieved sales of over US$500 000.

In 2020, The 2020 edition of the Zimdancehall awards were in limbo due to financial constraints and Teemak chipped in and poured in an undisclosed amount of money. Teemak also launched One House Zimbabwe, a reality show modelled along the lines of Big Brother Africa where the winner was to pocket $50 000 USD but the show was post poned due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[6] [7]

Earlier in the same year Teemak signed award winning Zim Dancehall superstar Enzo Ishall on January 23 at a glittering ceremony at a five star Harare hotel. Some details of the contract were not revealed publicly, Enzo was reportedly signed for US$20 000 excluding perks and monthly allowances.[8]

Music Career[edit]

Teemak entered the Zimbabwean business and entertainment landscape early 2020, firstly made headlines after buying ‘DJ Towers’ Tawanda Marimbe a car.[9] In 2016 he set a record for being the longest run ever at the top of the Zim Top Ten show on Zambezi Magic with his video Heaven & Hell. [10]

He is currently signed to D- Trixx Audio and has listed artists like Jon Connor, J Cole and Tupac as his influences.[11]
