Ten Millennia are a British band, founded in January 2016 based in Yorkshire. Taking their name from their home county, Yorkshire, which is believed to have had settlements since 8000 BC, the band still lives in the county. They are known for their soul/funk/jazz sound and their live set list is made up of material written mainly by lead vocalist, Rosie, and Wayne Pollock, the band’s music director and keyboard player, as well classics of the genre.

The current line-up comprises Rosie (lead vocals), Wayne Pollock (keyboards), Rich Jevons (guitar), Colin Sutton, (bass guitar), Russell Henderson (saxophone) and Julian Richer (drums).

Ten Millennia have supported The Corrs at Kew Gardens in July 2016, and Jools Holland's Rhythm and Blues Orchestra in Scarborough, Harrogate, York, in 2016 and Brussels in March 2017 and Carlisle and Edinburgh Jazz and Blues festival in July 2017.[citation needed]

They also supported Shakin' Stevens in Worthing and Scunthorpe in April/May 2017.[1]

On Saturday 14th July the band were honored to play the main stage at The Cornbury Music Festival.[2]

The following Saturday, 21st July, the band supported Tony Hadley in Leeds and on the 11th August they are due to support Texas at the Scarborough Open Air Theater. On November 30th they will again be support Jools Holland's Rhythm and Blues Orchestra during their tour, including performing at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in November, in addition to dates in Manchester and Bournemouth.

Discography[edit]

Their debut album, Ten Millennia, was released on 7 July 2017. It was produced by Andy Wright. The album reached number 12 in the Official Independent Album Chart, number 4 on the Official Independent Breakers Chart and number 23 on the Official Record Store Chart.[3][4][5]

The band's second album, 'Love Won't Wait', again produced by Andy Wright, is due to be released on 17th August 2018. The band have a nationwide tour planned to promote the launch.

Airplay and radio rotation[edit]

The lead single, "Turn Me On" has had extensive play on BBC Radio 2;[6] Graham Norton, Ken Bruce, Paul O'Grady, Steve Wright, Tony Blackburn, Vanessa Feltz, Jeremy Vine and Craig Charles all featured the track in their shows, and Radio 2 added it to its Top Hits playlist broadcast on 4 March 2017.[citation needed]

The single has had over 1500 plays on independent radio, from Nevis Radio, Lakeland Radio, Metro Radio, Radio Yorkshire, Dragon Radio, Thames Radio, Wolverhampton City Radio, Oban FM, High Peak Radio, Ashbourne Radio, KMFM, Black Diamond Radio, Wave102 FM, SFM, AcademyFM, Express FM, Forest FM, The Wire, Revolution96.2, Coast1079, Sunny G 103.5FM, Your Radio amongst others.[citation needed]

The band have made TV appearances on Scottish TV 'Live at Five' on 19 July 2017 and ITV's Aled Jones 'Weekend' on 13 August 2017.[citation needed]

Their latest single 'Twenty Minutes' was played on BBC Radio 2's Paul O'Grady show on Sunday 15th July.
