Terinai is a dance that has long been established in the state of Perlis. It is usually performed in a palace crowd, with a flute rhythm (seven holes - top six, bottom hole - one), a pair of soft drums (a small face beaten using a kind of rattan tied and forged) and two gongs - carrying an implicit spirit in it. This dance is paired with the music of ‘Gendang Tarinai’ (derived from the name ‘Gendang Keling’) from Perlis<ref>"GENDANG TERINAI (THE MUSIC OF THE TERINAI DRUM)".<ref>. This dance does have a certain pattern in the development of dance art in Perlis and joins with other dances such as Canggung, Cinta Sayang, Mak Inang, and Ayam Didik which were so famous once upon a time that it became a palace dance. The art of dance is so beautiful and highly valued.
