Terrace Garden, is a botanical Garden located in Sector 33 of Chandigarh[1]. It was set up in the year of 1979. Having a proximity of 5 km from the Chandigarh Bus stand and 6 km from Sukhna Lake, this is a beautiful garden covering 10 Acres area.
Chandigarh Terrace flower garden contains exquisite varieties of flowering plants.
Festivals
The annual Chrysanthemum Festival [2] takes place mostly in the Terraced Garden, which is important for the widespread participation of the general public and nature enthusiasts. Chrysanthemums in a variety of colours cover the city during the display, which is held in December. On the night of the show, a variety of competitions are organised in which numerous city gardeners actively participate.
Some historical structures in Terrace Garden
There are statues built by various artists that represent the cultures of other states as well as Punjab and Haryana. The martyr's pillar on the terrace garden was built to honour the brave military personnel from Chandigarh who gave their lives in battle for the good of the country.
