TestProject is a free, cloud based automated testing solution developed by Tricentis. The software is built on top of open-source automation frameworks such as Selenium and Appium with a browser-based IDE interface that supports API, web and mobile testing on all major operating systems. TestProject was acquired by Tricentis on August 11th, 2019.[1]

    Architecture[edit]

TestProject employs a cloud based architecture comprised of several components that interact to comprise the platform:[2]

    • Test Recorder: for recording interactions with applications in a web browser, or on a mobile device
    • SDK: for extending the functionality of TestProject to create add-ons and coded tests
    • Add-ons: pre-packaged, community supported extensions to TestProject's functionality
    • Analytics: executive level reports to analyze the results of tests executed in TestProject
    • API: a RESTful interface for interacting with TestProject and integrating TestProject into other toolsets

    Test Recorder[edit]

TestProject's Test Recorder records interactions with web and mobile based applications, to provide a recorded test that can be executed within the platform.[3] The Test Recorder can be accessed via any of the most common browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Safari.[4] The Test Recorder interacts with the web and mobile applications via an installed agent that runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux.[5]

    SDK[edit]

TestProject's SDK is a Java and .NET based framework for interacting with TestProject.[6] The SDK is used for generating custom actions that can be distributed via the add-ons gallery.[7] Additionally, the SDK can be used to convert existing Selenium or Appium tests to coded tests that can be executed in the TestProject platform.[8]

    Add-Ons[edit]

TestProject can be extended with the use of free add-ons provided within the add-ons gallery.[9] Add-ons have been created to assist with functions like image comparison, natural language processing, and JavaScript injection.[10]

    Analytics[edit]

TestProject provides cloud based dashboards for viewing execute level reports on test execution progress.[11] These reports include details on build progress, test status, screenshots, and errors.

    API[edit]

TestProject exposes a RESTful API allowing for easy integration to other toolsets.[12]

    License[edit]

TestProject is distributed as Freeware, with free support included via chat.[13] Additionally, TestProject provides free add-ons which are distributed via an add-ons gallery.
