Tetiana Shabanova

Shabanova Tetiana (born May 6, 1967, Mariupol, Donetsk region, Ukraine) - Ukrainian pianist of classical and jazz directions, teacher, arranger, composer, musicologist. The author of the textbooks "Fundamentals of improvisation", "Dramaturgy in jazz", to the row of the scientific articles from the problems of jazz improvisation.

Biography[edit]

Since 1993 she has been a teaching in piano and improvisation at Music school №3 in Mariupol, and since 1994 she has been a teaching at the Mariupol Musical College and Music School (pianoforte and improvisation). From 2006 to 2008 - head of the pop and jazz department of the Mariupol Music College. Since 1995 - lecturer of the Department of Musicology of PSTU (harmony and form in pop and jazz music, history of modern music, development of creative abilities and direction of diploma works), head of Dixieland PSTU (2000-2002). In 2009-2013 years. worked in the Uzhgorod College of Culture and Arts, Uzhgorod branch of the Kiev National University of Culture and Arts. In 2013-2014 she worked in the Chine's High Ying Art Training School (China).

Since 1993, Tetiana Shabanova is an active concert performer. In various cities of Ukraine and abroad it her played numerous concerts, both solo, consisting of classical and jazz music, and concerts together with their students. She participated in a large number of international festivals and competitions (26 Diplomas), in many jazz festivals in Ukraine (in Kiev, Uzhgorod, Rivne, Simferopol, Yalta, Donetsk, etc.).

Features of the creative method[edit]

Tetiana Shabanova is a concert performer of the highest level. She possesses masterly mastery of all kinds of piano technique, a strong emotional impact on the listener. Each work, regardless of style and genre, it presupposes its own concept based on the most rigorous complex analysis of the music text, as well as historical, philosophical, worldview prerequisites for its creation. This allows you not to confine yourself to any concert role, perform music of all ages and any style.

As performer-improviser Tetiana Shabanova is not limited to the framework of the actual jazz style. In her performance you can hear both jazz standards and improvisations on your own themes. Tetiana Shabanova is characterized by mobility and creative openness, which allows to participate in original and innovative projects at the intersection of various forms of creativity, for example improvisation of music to paintings; and in 2013 in ILKO Gallery (Uzhgorod) was played an unprecedented improvisational marathon City Jazz, consisting of hour non-stop improvisation (the noise part - DJ M. Tyupa). As a master of improvisation, Tetiana Shabanova can impromptu compose a theme from randomly selected elements, for example, numbers of the phone and immediately create improvisation on it. This has been repeatedly demonstrated at concerts, lectures, scientific conferences.

In the improvisational part of her concerts, Tetiana Shabanova uses joint music making with a listener audience: responsive, rhythmic ensemble.

Tetiana Shabanova is also a accompanist. Emphasizing and supporting the performer-soloist, she finding interesting nuances in the piano part, building a common dramaturgy of the musical work, creates a bright duet both in classical and jazz concert performance.

Tetiana Shabanova is the author of the technique of setting the hand, thanks to which the pianist can perform works of any complexity, without experiencing any inconvenience and without getting injured.

Tetiana Shabanova is an arranger and composer. Her creative abilities allow writing for any composition of instruments, as well as for voice. The arrangements of Tetiana Shabanova so transform and globalize the content of the original themes, which, in essence, are independent works. The orchestral and ensemble compositions of Tatiana Shabanova are characterized by intense, rich sound, bright dynamic relief. The texture of the works is created in such a way that there is an effect of more sounding instruments than in reality.

Awards[edit]

In 2000 Tetiana Shabanova received a diploma of the international jazz festival "Autumn Jazz Marathon" as arranger and head of Dixieland PSTU. In 2007, at the international festival-competition in Montenegro, she received a diploma "Golden Brand". In 2008 she became the winner of the first prize as the head of the student trio and arranger at the contest "Yellow Submarine" in Kiev, which was held under the patronage of Paul McCartney.
