Thakur Surinder Singh Mankotia (born 21 April 1964) is an Indian politician, who currently serving as the President Block Congress Committee at [1]Jaswan Pragpur Himachal Pradesh in India. He is member of Indian National Congress. He contested the election on behalf of Indian national congress party from Jaswan Pragpur constituency for Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 2017. [[1]]. Previously (2014) he served as Vice-chairman, Himachal Pradesh Employees and Other Workers Welfare Board, Himachal Pradesh Government. Before resigning from government service in 2014 he served as a class-I Gazetted Officer in Himachal Pradesh Government.

Political Carrier[edit]

In 2014 he started his political journey as a [2] Vice-Chairman, Himachal Pradesh Employees, and Other Workers Welfare Board Himachal Pradesh Government. In 2014, he too got the membership of the Indian National Congress Indian National Congress Party. In 2015 he was appointed as Secretary PCC and entrusted the work of incharge of the Jhandutta constituency. In 2016 he was appointed Observer of Kutlehar constituency. He is always in the people of Jaswan Pragpur and working hard for their well beings. He is presently working as President, Block congress committee [3]Jaswan Pragpur

Early life and Education[edit]

Thakur Surinder Singh Mankotia was born on 21 April 1964 in a poor farming family in Narihana village(now indwelled in Pong Dam) of Dehra [2] Tehsil of Kangra district. Due to the construction of the pong dam in 1971, his village was exterminated. They settled in Village Kalehar Dadasiba(Dadasiba). He is the youngest among eight siblings – 4 sisters and 4 brothers including 2 step sisters and 2 stepbrothers. His father’s name was Late Shri Shamsher Singh Mankotia who used to work as a farmer and his mother's name was Smt. Pritmi Devi. Thakur Surinder Singh Mankotia who spent his childhood in acute poverty, attained his primary education from Dadasiba. And he did High school in 1980 at Baba Kanshi Ram(BKR) Baba Kanshi Ram Government High school (now Senior Secondary School Dadashiba). He did his Pre-University in TKD college now PGDC Dhaliara in 1981. Then he got the Diploma of Stenographer from government ITI Shahpur in 1982. He studied in evening college Shimla also. He did his graduation and Post- Graduation (MA) in Economics from HPU Shimla alongside government service at Chamba and Shimla

Thakur Surinder Singh Mankotia is married to Rajni Mankotia and they have two daughters and one son. Rajni is presently working in HP Secretariat, who was born and brought up in Draman village of Shahpur tehsil district Kangra Himachal Pradesh. The couple has two daughters and one son. One daughter is married and serving in Gurugram and other one is unmarried and serving in Delhi and the lone son is studying in the 10th class in Shimla Himachal Pradesh

Service Carrier[edit]

In 1986, Thakur Surinder Singh Mankotia was recruited as a stenotypist by the HP Public service commission Shimla. He joined the office of District Food and Supplies Controller Chamba as a stenotypist and started his carrier as Class-lll govt. servant. In 1987, he, again, qualified for the exam of Jr. Scale Stenographer in HP Public Service Commission Shimla. He resigned as Stenotypist in DF&SC Chamba and joined as Jr. Scale Stenographer in the Directorate of Economics & Statistics department Shimla in 1987. During the service, he was promoted as Private Secretary class 1 gazetted officer. In 2014 at the age of 50, he resigned from government service. He was keenly interested in employees/trade union activities. During the service, he remained as president of the departmental employee’s association. In 1998 he was a member of the HPNGO Federation. In 2004 he was Elected as Office Secretary HP State Non-Gazetted Employees(HPNGO) Federation. In 2009 he was elected as President of the HPNGO Federation. In 2009 he was elected as President of the HPNGO Federation. In 2014, he, again, was elected as President of the HPNGO Federation.
