History

Sonari yaji yepatee chuku is believed to be the forefather of the Thami caste. They inhabited Rangrang Thali, Tilak Pokhari as a king. In that place, there are ancestor-made chulo, Tilak Pokhari and a big forest nearby. Tilak Pokhari is a worship area too.

The Thami people have their own language called Thamgi. They also have sub-castes like Thangthung akymee, gole.

Festival

Udaholi and Ubholi are the main festivals. During this festival, married women bring Puchuk to the god in a temple called Bhuma Than. Jhakri is known as the Guru of the Temple. Other people also go there to worship and to celebrate this festival. Ghakri (male as well as female) sing and dance in a circle by drumming on an instrument called Dhangro. They also celebrate Hindu festivals too, like Dashain (most use white tika from elders and some use red tika too), Tihar, Holi, Budha Purnima and so on.
