Thanos Loudos (born February 7, 1993) is a Greek art appraiser, auctioneer, and television presenter. He is the founder of the auction house Loudos Auctions[1] and became widely known through his appearances as a lead appraiser on the Greek version of the TV show Cash or Trash, broadcast on Star Channel.[2]
Biography
Loudos was born in Alexandroupoli, Greece, and is originally from Tycheró in the Evros region.[3] He grew up in Thessaloniki. He studied Economics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and completed postgraduate studies in Law and Business of the Arts at the International Hellenic University. He also holds the Applied Jewelry Professional diploma from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).[1]
Career
In 2019, Loudos founded the auction house Loudos Auctions which conducts live and online auctions in Greece and abroad.[4] In 2021, he launched Loudos Contemporary, a modern art gallery based in Corfu, Greece.
Since 2018, he has lectured in postgraduate programs at the International Hellenic University, focusing on the art market and collecting.
In 2020, Loudos became the first Greek auctioneer to organize a sale of works from the George Costakis Collection, a globally recognized Russian avant-garde art collection.[5]
In 2022, he gained mainstream popularity in Greece as the lead appraiser on Cash or Trash, a TV program evaluating antiques and collectibles, and has appeared on national shows such as The 2Night Show, Breakfast@Star, and Traction.[6]
