The Authentics are a rock supergroup formed in Vancouver British Columbia in 2015 by Al Harlow (Prism), Rocket Norton (Prism), John Hall (Prism), Ab Bryant (Prism, Chilliwack, Headpins), Skip Prest (Sweeney Todd), and Ray Ayotte (Ayotte Drums). The band's current lineup consists of Harlow, Norton, Hall, and Bryant.
History[edit]
After a "Local Legends of Rock" concert on May 22, 2015, held by Lynn Valley United Church for their "Friday Night Live" series, featuring Harlow, Norton, Hall, and Bryant received good reviews. The four decided to form a Supergroup along with Skip Prest and famed drum maker Ray Ayotte. The six had been playing music with each other for decades and it was decided to finally form a band together. Through 2015-2018 the band played several gigs in and around the Vancouver area; where all members reside. In early 2019, the band decided to enter the studio and record a six track Extended play, with Harlow, Norton, Hall, and Bryant; Prest and Ayotte had left the band at this point. The EP consisted of three Prism songs: "(Who Put Those) Things in Your Head)", "Flyin'", and a previously unreleased tune titled "In It For Yourself". The EP also featured a Seeds of Time song titled "Supergirl", a Chilliwack song titled "Crazy Talk", and a Rod Stewart song titled "Gasoline Alley". The self-titled EP was produced by Keith Stein and released on October 5, 2019. An EP release party took place at Blue Frog Studios on the same date to celebrate the release of the EP.
