The Battle of Valion was a skirmish fought between forces of the Khwarazmian Empire and the Mongol Empire during the early 13th century. During the Khwarezmian-Mongol War that started in 1220, Muhammad II of Khwarezm died and the new Sultan Jalal al-Din Mangburni defeated the Mongols in the Battle of Nesa and he came to his uncle. There an army of 10,000 joined his forces and he defeated Tolui Khan at the Battle of Uslava. Jalal al-Din Mangburni defeated Tolui in front of Qanhahar. He came to Ghazni with his army of 30,000 men, where an Afghan army of 30,000 joined him.[11] Jalal al-Din then headed for the besieged Valion castle and defeated the Mongol army. The Mongols fled and told the situation to Genghis Khan. Later, Jalal al-Din would defeat the Mongols again and a strong army would come under the leadership of Qutughu.
