The Boy Band Project is an American-based semi-satirical contemporary boy band cover group formed in New York City by Travis Nesbitt. They are most notable for opening for pop star Todrick Hall on his Haus Party Tour in 2019, their award-winning New York Residency Boy Band Brunch, and their original single Get Behind My Love.[1]

History[edit]

The concept for The Boy Band Project was conceived by Travis Nesbitt shortly after he closed Altar Boyz Off-Broadway in 2011.[2] It was officially formed in 2014 in New York City. The band's first major 90 minute show was in Doylestown PA in 2015 starring Travis Nesbitt, Jesse JP Johnson, Marshall Carolan, and Mike Schwitter.[3] The show has played other notable venues and cities such as Atlantis Cruises, RSVP Cruises, The Gramercy Theatre, The Iridium NYC, and others.[4]

In 2018, a producer from Good Morning America attended their show at The Iridium in New York City and featured them on the television show the following day with a surprise meet and greet with the Backstreet Boys.[5][6] Shortly after, Travis created their show Boy Band Brunch for The Green Room 42 in New York City. The show eventually began a weekly residency at the venue and subsequently won the 2019 BroadwayWorld Award for Best Group Show.[7]

In 2019, the group began working with New York Composer Michael Mott to create original songs with the same Semi-satirical boy band style. Mott wrote Get Behind My Love, their Holiday song Jingle My Bells, and the soon to be released The Best Night of Your Life.[8]

In November 2019, The Boy Band Project opened for Pop Star and YouTube Sensation Todrick Hall on the east coast leg of his Haus Party Tour.[9] The brand is currently represented by Lee Lessack with LML Music Presents.
