Overview[edit]

The Caring View is an online talk show Hosted by Adam Purnell and Mark Topps. The show aims to provide a platform for everyone working and living in social care whilst also helping to improve the public image of social care throughout the UK

The show airs live, Tuesdays, every week at 19:30, on YouTube and on is also available on catch up via podcast at anchor.fm.

The show was launched in April 2021 with the first episode airing April 13th 2021[1][2]

The Hosts[edit]

The Caring View was founded by Adam Purnell, Mark Topps, Donna Pierpoint and Dawn Bunter in April 2021[3][4]

In August 2021 Donna Pierpoint departed as co-host followed by Dawn Bunter in February 2022. Mark Topps and Adam Purnell are the two full time hosts of The Caring View

Adam Purnell

Adam Purnell is passionate about social care. He has spent the last 15 years building on his knowledge through first hand experience, acting as peer support, and through volunteer ambassadorial roles for organisations such as John's Campaign.

In September 2021, Adam was awarded the ‘Chief Nursing Officer for Adult Social Care’ Silver Award for his dedication to supporting the social care sector, those who work in it, and those who draw upon the services.

Adam is a regular face and voice for social care in the media[5] [6] and can regularly been seen speaking at public events, conferences, and care roadshows[7] as well as on his weekly social care talk show ‘The Caring View’.

Adam is also the current director of Social Care for the Institute of health and social care management and Director of Adam Purnell Ltd, providing consultancy support to care organizations.

Mark Topps

Mark has spent over fifteen years working within the care industry. Mark joined the sector when he was 17 years old and is now a Regional Business Manager for Essex Cares Limited, having gained experience in various roles across both healthcare and social care and working in a variety of different services.

Mark is passionate about career pathways, upskilling the workforce and supporting those working within the industry and co-founded a weekly YouTube show “The Caring View” and a weekly Clubhouse room “The Health and Social Care Club” aimed at raising awareness of the sector, providing support and advice and also networking people working within the industry together.

Mark has led on numerous campaigns for the rights of people who access services, mainly those living with a learning disability and was instrumental in ensuring people living with a learning disability were prioritised for a COVID vaccine during the first wave of the pandemic[8]. Mark continues to advocate for the workforce and those who use care services and has a regular care column with Log My Care.

Mark has long advocated for the recognition of care and support workers to be regarded as the highly skilled professionals that they are and leads on NACAS’ Social Media and Marketing and is a member of the Board.
