The Creators Society is a member organization with the purpose of bringing members of the animation community together.[1] The Creators Society has members around the world, but is based out of Los Angeles. The Creators Society has been hosting animation networking socials every month since July 2015.[2] On July 31, 2018 The Creators Society started offering memberships to further expand the benefits to the animation community.[3] The Creators Society works to bring the animation community together and puts on events and programs such as a mentorship program, expert panels and discussions, and making an effort to encourage a more respectful and inclusive community. Eric M. Miller is the current president of The Creators Society.

History[edit]

The Creators Society was founded in 2015 by animation producer and businessman Eric Miller.[4] The Creators Society was initially called The Los Angeles Creative Professionals Society, and was started in an effort to bring people of different fields within the animation industry together for networking. Miller felt there were groups for producers and groups for artists and animators, but there was not a single group that brought everyone together. He felt this was vital for the success and collaboration of the industry. The first social was held on July 21, 2015, at Story Tavern in Burbank, CA.

Events[edit]

The Creators Society puts on many events every year including the Monthly Animation Socials where both members and non-members can network to expand their professional networks in animation. The Creators Society also hosts many member-only events and programs ranging from mentorship programs, animation competitions, speakers, and panel events.[5][6]

The Creators Society Animation Podcast[edit]

In Jan. 2021 The Creators Society started an animation podcast. The podcast is hosted by Michael Wakelam, and is weekly conversations with creators from all across the animation industry on topics ranging from careers, the craft, the history, and the business of animation.[7]
