The Dive
The Dive is the sixth episode of season four. Patrick McKinney’s body gets pulled out of the water by Jason Carver. Police question Jason, but Jason tells them that Eddie Munson’s D-20 caused this to happen, but police tell Jason to brush off Patrick’s snapping as an accident. Meanwhile, fish start eating some weird rocks inside of a lake. Agent Wallace is brought to a government lab by Jack Sullivan and is told that they believe that Eleven is not only alive after the police crashing incident but caused Vecna to exist. Wallace demands to be isolated in a room for a bit while he decides what he wants to do, so he is taken to a small room. Martin Brenner is unfortunately informed that Nina’s Project has been fixed, so he can no longer have fun with Eleven and has to bring her to relive her memories. He gets Eleven to tell him what she has seen so far about her accidentally causing the massacre. Max Mayfield, Dustin Henderson, Nancy Wheeler, Steve Harrington, and Robin Buckley go to Rick Lipton’s house to tell Eddie about Vecna but find police officers there because of Patrick’s body investigations. Mike Wheeler, Will Byers, Jonathan Byers, and Argyle arrive at Suzie Bingham’s house in Udaipur. Argyle realizes his online girlfriend is Eden Bingham, Suzie’s older sister. Joyce Byers and Murray Bauman are lost and ask Yuri Ismaylov for help, but he demands they help pay for his plane to be fixed. Jim Hopper, Dmitri Antonov, and all other 122 prisoners start feasting on a dinner prepared for them, but Hopper says that this is basically raising them up for slaughter, as the Demogorgon will eat them and the food that they consume. So, Hopper decides to starve himself and not eat any food, and Antonov follows suit. Inside of Nina’s Project, Eleven talks to Henry Creel about One, who she heard made his mom and sister snap, and framed his father for it. Henry tells Eleven that One was just a made-up story by Brenner to scare the children. Henry then tells Eleven that Terry Ives is still alive. Brenner then takes the kids to have fun. Dustin realizes that his compass is kind of off, while Erica Sinclair talks to Max about how she feels guilty that she didn’t stop Eddie from rolling the D20, as that likely would have saved Patrick from Vecna. Nancy is jealous of Steve and Robin. Inside of the town hall, everybody is talking about Patrick and they are planning a riot, but then Jason steps up and starts talking about how they need to stop brushing off people who snap as an accident and how instead they should be getting justice. Meanwhile, the group decides to follow Dustin’s compass because of past experience. Brenner forces Eleven and Two into a battle, where Two attempts to raise his pistol to the sky, but Eleven does not wait and hits him between the ribs. Murray is forced by Joyce to dress up as Yuri, as Yuri would be a more well-known person in Russia. Hopper steals a torch from a guard and starts bragging to Antonov. Mike tells Suzie that they are trying to find a woman named Nina, but Suzie reveals that she does not have a computer and instead used a public computer in a library. She promises she will decode the code if they get her a computer, and after stealing some computer parts from the local Home Depot by distracting the store workers with a rap battle against each other, they create a new computer, where Suzie successfully decodes the Planck’s Constant. When they leave, they see Eden and Argyle having fun. Two’s friends decide torment Eleven because of what she did. Eleven gets so mad that she causes the massacre again, and she decides to conclude that she will no matter what cause the massacre. The machine breaks down again because she altered the future again. As Steve, Nancy, Eddie, and Robin sail a ship into the lake, Dustin attempts to swim after them and then gets pulled under the water. Steve jumps down to save him but finds out that there is a hole into the mine as the police catch Max and Erica. As Steve gets pulled into the water, he finds Demobats everywhere.
